American rapper and business mogul, Kanye West, has been sued by a US clergyman over snippets of him used in a song released on his latest album, Donda.

The clergyman, Bishop David Paul Moten, filed a suit on claims that a version of his sermon was used in the track Come To Me.

According to TMZ, the Texas court documents showed that his 70 seconds sermon was used without his consent, “wilfully and egregiously sampling sound recordings of others without consent or permission.”

It amounts to more than 20% of the just over five-minute track.

At the beginning of the song, the phrase “my soul cries out hallelujah and I thank God for saving me” is heard; there are other snippets as well in the track.

UMG Recordings, Def Jam Recordings, and G.O.O.D Music are not excluded in the suit.

Come To Life is on the rapper’s 10th studio album, Donda, released last year in August. The album gave Kanye his tenth top Billboard 200, selling 309,000 equivalent album units in the first week.
