Shatta Wale arrested hours after alleged gunshot attack

Ghanaian dancehall singer, Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale, has been arrested by the Ghana Police for spreading false information.

Recall that KAFTANPost had reported the outcry of the singer’s father who begged Shatta’s fans to pray for his safety after an alleged gunshot attack on the singer.

The father, in a post, had assured the fans that they are working towards finding the singer after he was declared missing following the attack in East Legon.

His representative, Nana Dope, in a post he made on his social media account, confirmed the singer had been rushed to the emergency ward of a hospital.

However, an update has been made by the Ghana Police.

The Ghana Police service via their official Facebook page has revealed that the singer had turned himself in after he was declared wanted.

The singer was detained for false information creating panic and fear in the citizens’ minds.

The statement reads: “The Police have arrested Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale.

“After we publicly declared him and one other person wanted, the suspect, Shatta Wale, turned himself in today Tuesday 19th October 2021, at 8.59 pm.

“He has been arrested to assist the Police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic.

“As stated in previous statements, the public is advised to desist from publishing false information, capable of disturbing the peace of the country or risk being arrested and prosecuted.”
