The Supreme Court on Friday, sacked Senator Ibrahim Shekarau as the candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) for the Kano Central Senatorial district.
The Court therefore affirmed Senator Rufa’i Hanga as the authentic candidate for the NNPP in the 2023 general election.
Recall that Shekarau earlier emerged as the flagbearer of the Kano Central Senatorial District under the NNPP.
The party later named Hangar as his replacement after Shekarau defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Shekarau, who seeks a return to the Red Chamber for the second time, is seen to have abandoned his senatorial ambition for dumping the party.
The Court on this ground, affirmed Senator Rufa’i Hanga as the legitimate flagbearer of the NNPP.
