There were palpable fears in Auga-Akoko, one of the towns in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State following the kidnap of a top military officer identified as Captain Gana by unknown gunmen.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, on Wednesday, confirmed that the victim, Captain Gana was abducted while returning from Abuja to Ibadan.
According to the Police PRO, Captain Gana was traveling alone in his car and was whisked into a bush.
“He was taken into a nearby bush and the abductors allowed him to call a relation who informed our men in the Ikare-Akoko division.
“Unfortunately, before a team of police detectives got to the area, he had been moved away from the place, but his car was recovered by our men”.
Ikoro disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Undie Adie, has ordered that a thorough search for the victim should be carried out so as to rescue him as soon as possible.
The Public Relations Officer also appealed to the law-abiding residents of the state not to harbor any fear, while assuring them of adequate security of their lives and properties after the abduction of the military officer.
