Akeredolu wins Ondo APC gov primary

The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the October 10 governorship election in the state.

In the contest that lasted till early hours on Tuesday, Akeredolu won in all the local government areas of the state, defeating seven other aspirants.

It would be recalled that four aspirants have earlier withdrawn and stepped down for Akeredolu before the commencement of the party’s primary which ended around 12:23 am.

The four aspirants who withdrawn from the race include Ife Oyedele, Segun Abraham, Jimi Odimayo and Nathaniel Adojutelegan.

The chairman of the Ondo State All Progressives Congress Primary Election Committee, Governor Yahaya Bello, announced the official results.

Akeredolu was declared winner of the keenly contested primary with 2,458 votes defeating Chief Olusola Oke who polled 262, while Hon. Issacs Kekemeke scored 19 votes.

Others in the race, Iji Sola scored nine votes, Awodeyi Akinterinwa, one vote, Anifowose Olajumoke, two votes, Nathaniel Adojutelegan, four votes, Olaide Adelami, four votes, Oyedele Ifeoluwa, one vote, Bukola Adetula with no vote, while Invalid votes was 33.

2,795 delegates across the 18 local government areas of the state participated in the election.
