The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has issued a call to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), urging it to reestablish its credibility and concentrate on the fight against corruption in its purest form.

In a statement that was released on Friday, the conference made this declaration in response to the manner in which the commission is conducting the case against Yahaya Bello, who had previously served as governor of Kogi State.

It was maintained at the conference, which was signed by its deputy National Publicity Secretary, Comrade James Ezema, that the activities of the EFCC have not only embarrassed the nation, but they have also reinforced the notion that the anti-corruption fight has been compromised and politicized.

In the statement, it was mentioned that the activities of the EFCC have not only caused our country to feel ashamed, but they have also contributed to the idea that the anti-corruption fight has been politicized and compromised.

In the case of Yahaya Bello, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seemed to be progressively becoming more of a prosecutor than a prosecutor, according to the group, which emphasized that such behavior was “unacceptable” and “undermined the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.”

According to the statement made by the CNPP, “this troubling sequence of events has led many Nigerians to question the true intentions of the EFCC.” The CNPP has raised alarm on the approach.

While at the same time requesting that the commission immediately stop the wanton dramatization of its activities, the CNPP encouraged the panel to redirect its efforts on serious anti-corruption programs and to also provide explanations that are both clear and consistent for its contradictory acts.

It was pledged by the CNPP that they would continue to keep a close eye on the developments and that they would demand accountability from the EFCC.
