Former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman loses husband

Senator Nenadi Usman, the former finance minister, has lost her husband, Sa’ad Usman. During the Olusegun Obasanjo era, Usman was the Minister of Finance.

The deceased who was the Emir of Jere, in Katargo Local Government, Kaduna State until his death, died in the early hour on Wednesday.

It should be recalled that the late Monarch was hospitalized in London following injuries that he suffered during an altercation that occurred between him and some local people who were reported to have hit him with a dangerous item that affected his spinal cord.

Confirming his death to the newsmen, Hamza Yakubu, the spokesman of the Jere kingdom, said the traditional ruler died in the early hour of Wednesday.

“Our Emir passed on at about 2:40am today after a protracted illness.”

The spokesman said the late emir had been battling with a ‘long-standing spinal cord problem’.

According to him, late Sa’ad Usman ‘had received treatment at different hospitals, including the National Hospital, Abuja and another hospital in London’.

At different times, Dr. Saad Usman was Secretary of the Government of Kaduna
State, while he has also held other senior positions he had held in the government circle.

The departed emir has been buried in Jere according to Islamic rites. He was 70 years old.
